...entering a busy, busy time...

I realize that it's been a really long time since I blogged and feel like I have some explaining to do...

At the beginning of October my husband and I found out that we are expecting baby #2!  So, needless to say, for October & November I was wiped out.  Taking care of a toddler & being pregnant is no joke.  Not much work got done...but it needed to because...

On December 7th WeeWants will be a vendor at the Appel & Frank Holiday Boutique in San Francisco.  I have been sewing during every nap time, after Jeremy goes to bed & any other chance I get!  Hopefully I have plenty of stock to take with me!  I am one of two vendors that will be selling anything related to babies at this event...so it should be a great evening!

Check out this link to a story about the boutique: http://m.examiner.com/exSanFrancisco/pm_75724/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=BdQ3KHw4

WeeWants had a great photoshoot with Lem Malabuyo and he captured some great images of a few of my favorite wee ones with a sampling of the blankets I will have at the boutique.

...bring on the holidays!  It's going to be busy, but everything will be worth it!

little surprises

I love little surprises.  Most of the time.

This little surprise came the other night in the form of a Facebook Notification.  It's the little things.

Dana Todd from DMT Photography did a photo shoot with her new (adorable) nephew a couple of weeks ago.  She wrapped him up in a WeeWants and tagged me in all of the pictures.  She took great pictures that day (and takes great pictures every other day) and I am so happy to have been a part of this captured moment!

Here are some of the great images from her shoot!

Thank you Dana!

Slacking.

So, I was doing great with my goal of blogging every day, and then this weekend happened.

That's my only excuse.

Monday was the only day I worked on anything WeeWants related.  I had a meeting about WeeWants being sold at a boutique on that day.  I had to figure out pricing and get back to them...so hopefully by the end of this week I will know!  So exciting!

I also, finally, sewed Jeremy a new blanket.  But, I don't have pictures of it yet. And to be quite honest, the real reason I sewed it was to show to the boutique.

So, when I'm not slacking, and by slacking I guess that means playing with my son & keeping the house looking like it's kind of clean...I will sit back down at the sewing machine and get going!

Dancing, flying & freaking out!

Jeremy has always loved music.  And the moment those little legs could support his upper body he'd bounce and dance every time he heard music.
Now that he's super mobile, he loves to dance.  His version of dancing may be different from yours, but it's dancing none-the-less.
This weekend we went to the LA area for a family party.  Jeremy was a hit.  His outfit got many comments & his moves made his the ladies melt.
Blurry...but definitely captured the adorable outfit.  Thanks E-Marie Designs for the bowtie!

Jeremy dancing with one of the DJ's at the party.  There is a better video, I just don't have it yet.

Today, we flew home.  Jeremy was great on both flights.  I think a lot of it had to do with the fact my mom was on the flight with us.  And that we completely wore the poor guy out so he wanted to do a lot of sitting still.  I was probably more stressed about the flights than I needed to be.  We survived.
Relaxing after a long jog around the terminal pre-flight.

Tonight, I am freaking out a little because I have a meeting about WeeWants tomorrow.  I have a bunch of samples of car seat blankets, but no cot blankets to show.  So, tomorrow (before 3) I need to find the time to: clean my house, shop for groceries, play with my son, and sew a blanket.  I know it's all going to get done...if I get enough sleep.
With that being said, I'm going to bed.

too hot to cook

I'm a wimp.  I will admit it.  I'm positive that there are others in hotter climates, in less comfortable houses, without fans...but I still tend to get whiny when I get hot.

I also get a little bit lazy.  Mainly surrounding dinner.  I don't love meal planning much anyway, so we wind up eating the same things over & over (poor Bryan)...and when it is hot outside I pretty much toss meal planning out the window.  Jeremy tries to help sometimes...but those darn bag ties...

Compound the heat (I refused to turn on anything that generates heat) with the fact that Bryan was gone for the beginning of this week (I didn't grocery shop) and we are going out of town for the weekend (I didn't grocery shop), pretty much left us with only one option: eat out.  Not a problem.  I will take an air conditioned restaurant over a hot kitchen at my house any day.  We ate at Blue Rock BBQ.  If you haven't checked it out, you should!

Needless to say I didn't go outside & shoot any pictures of the blanket I did today.  It's cute.  I promise.

Great walks, flat tires & business opportunities

Random title for a post huh?  That title pretty much sums up my day until about noon.
Tuesdays are one of my favorite days of the week.  Jeremy & I get to get up and go walk with Pa and his mommy.  I remember when I first wanted to run with her (we did run at one point...but now she's expecting #2 and we've slowed down a bit) I was super intimidated because she was always posting on Facebook about runs she did or how far...I thought "woah...I'm not going to be able to keep up!"  But I could, and a cherished time in my week has now been carved out for our walks.  We talk business (she owns E-Marie Designs...fantastic stuff), faith and a lot about our boys.
Today, and last Tuesday actually, I had a flat tire.  Last week I bought a new tube and had it installed and pumped up...today...same tire, totally flat.  UGH!  So, instead of getting to play at the park for a long time, Jeremy and I had to take our limping stroller to the bike store and get the tire fixed, again.  Hopefully this will be the last time for a while and I can make it two weeks without having to go see them...or I'll become a regular at the bike shop.

I sent an e-mail yesterday to a super cute children's boutique.  They responded and want to meet in person to see some of my blankets!  I am so excited, and so nervous!  I am going to make a few more cot blankets & car seat blankets with the letters in the corners to take and show them...Do you have any favorites??

Speaking of cot blankets.  Here are the pictures of the blanket for Mr. P.  I am so excited for him to pick it up tonight!  It's probably one of my new favorites!

Cot Blanket #3...We are excited about that at our house!

I am finished!  Mr. P will get his blanket this week! Pictures will come tomorrow!!
I'm thrilled that this is finished & I get to give the blanket to his mommy!  Thank you for waiting so patiently!!

Jeremy can't wait for Mr. P to get his blanket!

My next few projects.

After I finish Cot Blanket #3 for Mr. P, I am going to be making blankets with a bunch of fabric that I have leftover from previous orders.  These blankets won't have names on them, but are equally adorable.

If you (or someone you know) is interested in one of these blankets, please visit my Etsy shop or send me an e-mail at weewants@gmail.com.  None of them have been made yet, so they can still be personalized with a name.

...this will keep me busy for a while...

Favorite Bedtime Stories

You know you have one.  It was that book you made your parents read you over & over & over again.  The one with the bent pages, the ripped cover and the worn out spine.
The current favorite at our house:
  • I Love You Stinky Face by Lisa Mccourt(or "Fi Face" in Jeremy language)
It's been the favorite for a few weeks, and I don't see any signs of it changing soon.
A few have been added back into the bedtime rotation recently:
  • Goodnight Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann (or "Ga Ga,"which was found behind the changing table a few days ago & promptly restored to it's bedtime reading position)
  • Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown (simply "Moon.")
Jeremy reading an abridged version of "Goodnight Gorilla"
Bryan wasn't super happy about this one...but I was!
My early reader!
Don't interrupt me mommy!  I'm reading!
Today we celebrated the 2nd birthday of one of Jeremy's buddies, Pa.  We got his present last week, three of Jeremy's favorite books and jammies Jeremy (adamantly) picked out. Jeremy & I were very excited to give it to him.  Hopefully Pa will enjoy the stories as much as Jeremy does.

What were your favorite stories?  What books are you reading to your kiddos that have become their favorites (or do you read & wish you didn't have to)?

Cot Blanket #2

I finished the blanket for Miss L today.  This one gave me some trouble, but turned out super cute & I am pleased to say that it is done.
If I didn't have the troubles I did (think ripping the same seam over & over again because I sewed it wrong), I would have had the entire blanket done during Jeremy's nap.  But, I managed to sew squares onto the wrong places, in the wrong order, & crooked...so when Jeremy woke up, I couldn't very well leave him in his room whimpering for an hour while I finished.  So, I got him up and had a crazy baby playing hide & seek in the blanket & whining to climb up into my lap.
What is a mommy to do?
Blue's Clues.  Something about that show puts Jeremy into a state that causes him to freeze and stare.  It's magic.
This was my view for most of the show.  It's magic!
On any other day, I would have packed up my sewing stuff and called it a day.  Not today.  I was determined to get this blanket done.  And I did.

A good break.

I can't handle how cute this picture is. Now I can hardly get him to stay still, let alone take a break and snuggle!
This picture is from when Jeremy was about two weeks old, we were taking a break from our super busy day at this particular moment (please insert your own sarcasm to that sentence if you've ever had a two week old) .  But, I don't like to post just a bunch of words...so enjoy the cuteness.

I took two nice breaks today.

Jeremy & I went to the kick off event for the Thursday Morning Bible Study at our church (Hillside Church).  He got to go and play with his friends & I got to go have some adult conversation (that naturally revolved a little bit around our kids).  I love our church and I love that there is something like this for women to participate in, and I love that they provide child care for the mommies who participate.  This is the first year that I am doing it & have to admit that I was a little bit hesitant...I thought it wasn't something that women my age did.  I am happy that there are about 10 of my friends doing the Bible Study, and even though we won't all be in the same group, it's fun knowing that we will all be learning the same things and growing in the Word together.

Today I sat down behind my sewing machine, turned it on & then decided that I didn't feel like sewing anything.  I decided instead to sit on the sofa & watch silly (that's putting it lightly) afternoon television.  I know very well that there is nothing good on in the afternoons, but I felt like I needed a break.  By the end of the second show, I was feeling a little twitchy.  Probably a sign that I should have started a project.  And the fact that Jeremy slept for 3 1/2 hours this afternoon was a sign that I definitely should have started a project...but I didn't.   And that's okay.

I was kind of productive...I got the flat tire on our stroller fixed (yeah!!) and got the car washed this morning (yipee!!).  Tomorrow I will do some sewing.

Cot Blanket #1

Today I finished the first Cot Blanket.
Cot Blankets are bigger than a regular WeeWants.
Perfect for the preschooler who wants their own blanket at school for nap time.
They can personalized with the child's whole first name, or just their first initial.  You decide!
Visit my Etsy shop and place or order today (or e-mail me at weewants@gmail.com)
Fits perfectly on a nap time mat!  Love Target's post-back to school sales...$2.50!

I love the fun robot print!
Thanks Jill Addington for spreading the word to your friends about WeeWants!!

Sorting, sobbing & sewing.

I've been waiting to take out the letter magnets for Jeremy until I thought that he wouldn't just put them in his mouth or just throw them around the house and not put them on the refrigerator.  Today was the day.  I took them out, put them on the fridge door & immediately he started to pull them down and...toss them around.  Fortunately, they stayed in the kitchen and did not make their way under the refrigerator...at least not yet.  He had a muffin tin out of one of the other cabinets & without any prompting from Mommy, started to put the letters in the cups.  Sorting already...he is a boy after my own heart!

This kept him busy for about 10 minutes.  Then it was time for Mommy to pick him up...while she was trying to make dinner.  He can sense when I have to do something that requires two hands and then decides that is the exact moment he needs attention.  I also happened to have the camera in the kitchen (doesn't everyone have the camera while they're making dinner?) and was able to capture the ridiculousness that is Jeremy being upset.  Hard not to giggle huh?

Before all of the silliness documented above, I was able to get a blanket finished.  It's the blanket a friend is having made for her friend who is going through chemo.  I am so excited to hear what she thinks about it and I hope that it helps her warm up during her treatments!
All ready to be picked up!
Tomorrow's agenda: cot blankets.  Stay tuned.

Long day!

Today was a long day.  I didn't take any pictures worth sharing & that bums me out a little bit.

Jeremy & I left this morning at 9:00 to run errands & came back to eat lunch, take a nap (him), sew (me), and then leave again to run more errands until it was time to make dinner.

I have to say...he was a trooper.  I would have been grouchy, but he did it all with a cute smile.  He charmed everyone at each store we went to and just chatted and chatted with me.
My little trooper & I
Anyway, I just finished the top to a blanket I am making for a friend's friend who is going through chemotherapy right now and gets cold during her treatments.  I feel really humbled to be making a blanket that will, hopefully, make the treatments a little bit more bearable.

Now, it's time to go and talk to my husband...I don't think we've spoken more than 10 words since he came home from physical therapy today...oops!

Too many fun things...

I often find myself thinking about new projects and items to add to my Etsy shop and then getting overwhelmed because I already have a bunch of projects to do...does this happen to anyone else or just me?

Right now I have SO much fabric that I need to sew into blankets.  I am building up my stock so that I can do a craft fair and actually have things to sell.  Have I found a fair yet?  No...so if anyone knows of one coming up (like November-ish) let me know!

Anyway, here are some of the fun things that I want to make someday.  They'll be so fun to have for Jeremy (and also in my shop)!  These are just some...I'm always looking for more!

Super cute seating for little ones!!  Check out the tutorial.
Perfect for kids like Jeremy who chew on everything...from The Sewing Room
I kind of am excited for our house to start losing teeth if I can make a pillow like this one!
