Too many fun things...

I often find myself thinking about new projects and items to add to my Etsy shop and then getting overwhelmed because I already have a bunch of projects to do...does this happen to anyone else or just me?

Right now I have SO much fabric that I need to sew into blankets.  I am building up my stock so that I can do a craft fair and actually have things to sell.  Have I found a fair yet?  No...so if anyone knows of one coming up (like November-ish) let me know!

Anyway, here are some of the fun things that I want to make someday.  They'll be so fun to have for Jeremy (and also in my shop)!  These are just some...I'm always looking for more!

Super cute seating for little ones!!  Check out the tutorial.
Perfect for kids like Jeremy who chew on everything...from The Sewing Room
I kind of am excited for our house to start losing teeth if I can make a pillow like this one!

Twins for a day

I have always admired mommies who have twins, marveled at how they juggle two, tried to wrap my head around what it would be like to manage to get anything done & have happy babies.

Today was my day.  Jeremy didn't all of a sudden morph into two babies.  We have some spectacular friends who were both busy today and needed a sitter for their 19 month old.  I will call her "O"

She is 4 months older than he is, so it has been great to watch her hit milestones that I know he will hit in a little while.  You'd never know that she is older than him by looking at them.  He probably outweighs her & they are the same height.  It's nuts.

O & Jeremy have a fun little friendship.  Is it a little bit of a forced friendship...I wouldn't say that.  But we are so close with her parents that we would have been really sad if she and Jeremy weren't buddies.  In the last month or so, the two of them have started getting excited about seeing each other (at least Jeremy is excited about seeing her) and are starting to actually play together.

I was excited to have this extended play date, but a little nervous too because Jeremy wouldn't be home for his nap...his routine would be a little off (reference my post from the other day...routines are big at our house).  I didn't need to worry.  O was a pleasure & she and Jeremy were great.

I played with both of them, I fed both of them, I managed to keep tabs on both of them.  I didn't venture out of the house, I didn't have to bathe both of them, I didn't have to be with both of them for more than a few hours.  I will NEVER know the true challenges of having twins, but have gained a little, teeny bit of insight into what it would be like to have two the same age...a teeny tiny bit.

Discussing our options for the day on a vacation to Pismo Beach.
Jeremy & O wagoning.
I cannot wait to see the two of them grow up together (whether they like it or not)!

A No Work Day

I am blessed to have a husband with a job that allows me to stay home and raise our son.
We are blessed to get "no work days" every other Friday.  The past two Fridays off we have been much more intentional about spending time as a family, and really taking advantage of the fact he doesn't have to work.
Today, Jeremy had the whole playground at Vasona Park to himself.  A shocker.  Although, it shouldn't be so much of a surprise since school is back in session and we went at 10:00 on a Friday.
We were walking to the playground, when Bryan made a sudden turn with the stroller towards the creek.  There were about 8 ducks walking around on the bank and swimming in the water.  So, we stopped to look & with the appropriate amount of quacking (on our part) had a nice "visit" with the ducks.
...not too sure about those ducks being so close.
These guys were fearless...or thinking they were going to get some snacks from us...
Now we're getting excited!
After the ducks we went to the park.  Jeremy's favorite activity of the day...climbing up the stairs to the big kid tube slide.
...the slide had some static!

We went all over that playground.  After we played, we went and had lunch and then home for a nap (all three of us took naps).

I love no work days.

How often do these things happen??

Three hour naps for the baby
Sewing a blanket from start to finish
Watching a full one hour show

The answer:
Not often, but they happened today.

Jeremy went to his Grandma's house today for an hour...how could he have gotten that worn out in just an hour?  Whatever she did, I will send him over daily if three hour naps are the result.  He woke up and was a happy baby, I was a happy mommy.

I started a blanket for a customer at the beginning of this epic nap.  And I finished it.  Typically it takes me 2-3 days (working in naptime increments) to sew the top & the name, and then I can sew on the backing.  It feels really great to have another project out of my project bin.

I got the chance to take more pictures of the blanket I finished yesterday.  This was a custom order.  The customer wanted an Alice in Wonderland themed blanket for her soon to be niece.  I searched for fabrics, put them together in an e-mail and then sent them to her to get the okay.  I love doing blankets this way!  If you want a custom blanket, e-mail me at weewants@gmail.com.
A creative way to add the middle name...any guesses what it is??

Tomorrow's agenda: cut squares for cot blankets for my preschool advertisers!

Day One.

I set an alarm on my phone to remind me to blog.  A bit obsessive...I suppose, but necessary.

After two days of late bed times, an early one was in order for my sweet baby turned monster toddler yesterday.  I am happy to report that (at least for today) my sweet boy has returned & we had a very pleasant day.

I am very big on routines and do not do well when things deviate too much.  Not such a great attribute when living with a toddler and probably why there were mommy meltdown when Jeremy was having his moments the last couple days.  I'm working on it, but am super grateful to have an easy going (most days) kid and a easy going husband.  Needless to say, we have a pretty solid routine in the morning.

After I get Jeremy up & changed, we go into the kitchen where he requests a "ne-ne" (banana) and "toat" (toast).  Mommy throws in some milk too, but rarely does he ask for it.  Then he gets in his highchair and eats...the entire banana.
It's a good thing bananas are soft.  He can power one down in no time flat.
Sometimes we leave the house, sometimes not.  Today our day consisted of "Elma" (Sesame Street), "baks" (blocks), a walk with friends, and playing on the "fa" (sofa).  In my efforts to keep my crazy kid from falling off the sofa when he cuts the corners, I managed to get a few good shots...

...love that baby!

...love that belly!

I managed to get an order finished during naptime today.

We did some other stuff today too...but this has already gotten too long.  I promise, I will be a little more focused next time!

new goal.

I am going to try (try being emphasized) to blog every day for the rest of September.  This is my new goal for the month.

I have so many projects right now going on that it shouldn't be too hard to post something about each one as they are done.

My husband & son also provide A LOT of fuel for good stories...so that should fill up some of my blogging days.

The hope is that I will be able to keep up with this and give you all a peek into my life, the boring days, the crazy days & the productive days.

That being said, I was so thrilled to have been asked by Dana Todd of DMT Photography to create a custom, very large (in relation to what I normally make) quilt for her to use in her photo shoots.  This past weekend, she did a maternity shoot and featured the quilt...so cool for me to see my work shot by such an amazing photographer.  Here is an image from the shoot.

I can't wait to see the rest!  Thanks Dana!
